What’s a better sleep skill for now?

My 14 week old is, I’d say, a good sleeper in general. He can sleep for 5-7 hours straight at night and takes about 5 naps a day. His naps are short. 30-40min. I’ve heard this is because he isn’t able to transition from one sleep cycle to the next, therefore waking up so soon.

My question is, should I work on helping him transition sleep cycles and sleep longer or work on getting him to fall asleep on his own. He is able to fall asleep in his own sometimes just not consistently.

Maybe working on both at the same time is too much? Also, what’s developmentally appropriate?
