Teachers hesitant to announce??

Question

Any other teachers hesitant to announce on social media over break? I am friends with some of my coworkers but not my principal, I would feel really weird if my principal found out from someone else and not me. I now regret having them as friends as I wish I could announce to my personal life and deal with announcing to work when school starts back up...

Change the privacy on the post so that it “excludes” the other teachers. That way you will still be able to announce when you wanted to.

I live close by my school, so I went in and told our Principal/APs that I’m expecting. They were overjoyed for me, since they knew my husband and I had been trying for a while. They even gave me 6th period planning (I teach middle school)! I was not expecting that kind of kindness, they said that I can always leave during 6th hour if I have a doctors appointment. Such relief! ❤️

I went in to get some information and talk to H.R about FMLA. My "principal" wasnt in but her fill in was there and found out. So when i return next week it will be funny to see and hear her reaction. I did manage to find out that the class next to mine got increased to 34 students, A.M and P.M classes. So glad it was not my class. Kind of wonder if my boss knew i was pregnant at end of the year, could explain why she was super nice to me😅🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately this happened to me and someone told the principal before I was able to. I was upset that someone would do that but she said that she was excited. Another girl on my team is due at the end of January so our maternity leave’s may eventually cross into each other. I plan to not go back until the new school year after I have the baby since I’m due the 28th. I would like to have my 12 weeks off and spend summer with the baby as well.

My principal actually said I was glowing and asked if I was expecting during the last week of school. At the time, I hadn't taken a pregnancy test yet! I can't wait to see her in a few weeks and tell her that she was right! I'll be 14 weeks when we go back in September, right after Labour Day!

I actually had K camp last week and my principal was there. I asked her if she would be around so I could talk to her after it was over and she got worried so I said oh, it’s good stuff and she immediately guessed baby, haha! She was sincerely happy for me but she did ask about my plans for after baby comes so be prepared with that answer just in case :) I can’t get paid over the summer unless I go back so it made my answer pretty easy.
