Tell me if I’m just an asshole sister okay
My brother is 15 and has his permit so he needs an adult to ride with him.
He needed to go to the tire shop and specifically wanted to take his car. He just wanted to go and get the 2 bad tires and donut taken off and replaced. He wanted to take it because he didn’t want to have to take them off and put them new tires on himself. He also needed the rims.
So I’m like yeah I’ll take you. I get in the car and it has no side mirrors... and I’m like no wait wtf. do you want to get pulled over because that’s how you do it. He’s going on and on about how “it’s just to the tire shop down the road. My friend drives without mirrors all the time.” Okay so I said “do you know what a cop is gonna say when we tell him that? He’s gonna say ‘uh I don’t care. Put side mirrors on your car before you drive it anywhere. Here’s a ticket. ‘ and your friend is just lucky they haven’t been caught yet. We are taking my car. You can just take the tires off your car and put them in mine and we can come back and put them back on your car. We are not getting a fat ticket today because you haven’t learned how the world works. No side mirrors, no drivey.”
So he whines and whines and gets in my car with the tires. Still mad at me. Making me feel like an uptight asshole sister.
On top of the fact that it’s illegal, it’s also a real safety hazard to not be able to feckin see beside you when you’re driving. I think my mom would end me if I allowed natural consequences to happen because he’s 15 and has enough money for cheap tires form a tire shop, but not that ticket. It would fall back on her.
Edit: the law in our state requires 2 mirrors so if he had one side view mirror (for some reason specifically on the left side) and a rear view mirror it would have been legal. But missing 2 side view mirrors is illegal.
