Breastfeeding struggles
From the start my little one and I have struggled with breastfeeding.. he was not able to latch , we had hospital and doctor check mouth for tongue tie they said he looked ok. We have been seeing a lactation consultant who gave us a nipple shield and he was able to latch finally! And I fell in love with breastfeeding. But the struggle didn’t end there unfortunately my supply seemed good however it would take him so long to feed that he was burning more calories than he was eating. He wasn’t gaining weight like he should. We really struggled getting back to birth weight. I started doing a routine of nursing for 20-30 minutes then pumping and giving him everything I pump with bottle. He still didn’t gain. So we ended up having to supplement with some formula. So I would nurse and then pump and then bottle
Feed and would give him 4-8oz of formula as well. And he finally gained! But now he won’t latch again. We finally got referred to the dentist because they now believe he very well may have a tongue tie and some sucking restrictions. But they can’t see us until August 21st! I want to continue to nurse him! I would love to exclusively nurse him. My supply is not keeping up with him. I am doing everything I can to keep my supply. And he screams every time I try to get him to latch even with the nipple shield. I can’t help but think that he may never want to latch again and it is breaking my heart. I need encouragement, I need tips and tricks, I need to hear success stories. I need some hope. I will
Not give up. I have to just make it until he gets his tongue tie fixed.
