Did you get an ultrasound on your first baby appointment?

Can I request one? They won't make me wait until 12 weeks right? I don't think I can wait that long! The lady I talk to said I wouldn't get an ultrasound the first appointment!

I had two ultrasounds at 6 weeks and 6 weeks 2 days because I was getting a lot of pain. But generally they don’t do ultrasounds until 11-13 weeks unless there is potential something concerning.

So I had an “OB Walkthrough” at I think 6 weeks, and did not get an ultrasound then. They basically took blood, had me pee in a cup and gave me a bunch of information about what to do and not to do, etc. 
my first OB appointment was at 9 weeks and we had an ultrasound then.

I had my first prenatal appointment last week at 7 weeks 6 days. They told me that their machines can’t detect a heartbeat until 10 weeks. This is my first pregnancy, I’m 34 and don’t really know what to expect. Hearing a heartbeat would have put my mind at ease. Next appointment is August 23rd and it can’t come soon enough!

It depends on the doctor. With my first ob, I did not get an ultrasound at my first appointment, but he sent me to get one the next week- I guess they don’t do them in their office and I had to book it at the hospital. It ended up being a horrible experience and found out after waiting three hours after the ultrasound that the baby didn’t have a heartbeat. We moved right before I got pregnant again and so I changed doctors. I made sure his office did ultrasounds on the first visit because I couldn’t deal with an experience like I had before again. I ended up loving my new ob and am so glad I went through my pregnancy with him and not my other doctor. I am pregnant again and have my first appointment and ultrasound on Wednesday. So if an ultrasound is important to you, I’d say find a doctor that does them in office. It makes a world of difference!

I had my first OB appt a few days ago. It was a general health exam, going over what to expect, blood draw, urine pregnancy test to confirm, Pap smear (since I needed it updated anyways) and pelvic exam. I go back on the 16th when I’ll be 8 weeks 5 days for my ultrasound visit. 
With my first, it was somewhat similar (different OB practice at that time). The first visit was with a nurse to go over my history, insurance/cost, blood draw. I was scheduled 1 week later for ultrasound and the first doctor visit in the same day. I was a little farther along (about 12 weeks) since I had to wait for new insurance to kick in. 
It is killing me to wait til the 16th! But I’m super excited. We are going to the beach the 18th and plan to do our announcement photo with my daughter on the beach, so I’m happy we will have the ultrasound pictures right before. Just trying to stay busy in the meantime! 😬

Some doctors refuse to do an ultrasound until at least 8 weeks. It can be very frustrating but just gotta be patient for baby ☺️

I'm in the us and I've always had a dating scan at my first ob appointment. I think it depends on the doc though

Are you in the UK? We get a talk with the midwife about 8 weeks, then first scan at 12.

I had my first ultrasound when I was 5 weeks. But that’s really early compared to when other people get theirs. I guess it depends on your doctor
