Drunk boyfriend.
So. Little backstory. My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years. I love him to death and he is my rock and has been there for me through my hardest times when I need him, as well as when my depression gets the lowest and my daily SI (suicidal idealization) gets the best of me. He is truly an amazing guy and does everything he can for my son and I to keep us happy. But here's his downfall. He can never go out and just have a beer or two. We can never go out and I can't trust that he'll be my DD because I know he will get drunk to the point of not being able to drive home.
Here are a few examples. All the weddings we've gone to where we didn't get a hotel, he is never without a beer in his hand or at the bar taking shots with his friends. I know he is at the point when he starts jumping around on the dance floor and being the hype man. Yesterday was one of my best friends wedding, I asked him in the beginning of this that since I was standing up in it, if he could please let me just have fun and he would drive home. He promised me that he would.
I stopped drinking after the grand March and switched to water. I had a glass of wine in my hand on the dance floor the whole night, not but did not drink out of it to see how he would react, if he would notice and stop drinking. He was not able to drive us home last night. He tried to tell me he was fine, I took the keys and drove us home. It happens every time.
His dad is a functioning alcoholic. I told him I refuse to live a life like that and whenever I bring it up because it is such a touchy subject he shuts it down. Maybe I dont get it but being 31 isn't this life supposed to be over? Or am I heading down the same road his mom is living now.
