How does your dog do the doo when it's raining outside?

Question

I recently gave up on trying to conceive my second child and we got a puppy instead. We're doing the crate training, and puppy pads, I walk him when he wakes up from a nap.(since he still only 7 weeks) If it's too early to walk outside I will continue to put him on a puppy pad until he pp's but he hasn't dootied on one yet. (Second day having him)
So when it just started raining it hit,  omg..what do I do when its raining? I'm sure like most he won't enjoy water. He is a very lazy pooch. Boston Terrier mix. (Mom full blooded BT, I'm sure dad was Pitt) What do you do when your doggie needs to do the doo and itd pouring? I have been out of the dog game for a little while. Been a cat woman for the past 8 years. What are some other tricks and tips you could share to help me out

7 week way that very early to get a pup. Took a while to potty train my pup whos know 14 weeks. Still pee in house some time getting alot better we dont kennel train him i dont like that. Talk him out every 2 hours to pee. And unfortunately my dog still doesnt go out in the rain.

Why do you have him at 7 weeks? That’s against the law unless you have mom of the litter. 
At 7 weeks of it’s raining outside, I wouldn’t even bother trying to potty train yet. He should still be using pee pads.

When our dogs were little, they got taken outside to potty about every 2 hours. My pitbull hates the rain and she'll either hold it or poop quickly and run back inside.

It’s just rain it won’t kill it. Either get it used to rain or expect it to pee and poo in your home. You’re the alpha, not the other way round.. I got my German shepherd pup at 10 weeks, I have it fully toilet trained now at 13 weeks, she learned that I won’t tolerate it in the house, she’s had three accident in the process which is ok but she knows who’s boss and where she can and can’t see. Rain, hail or shine she goes outside. I had her on pee pads for a week or two and it’s just as bad as her weeing in the house and she will get used to doing it so I decided nope I’m tired of waking up to a soiled laundry lol, I take her outside every 20 mins after meals as that’s how long a 10-12 week old pup takes to digest food and the same for when she drinks and then every hour between. She got the point and now I let her sleep in the laundry as I keep her kennel in there with access to the yard at night so now I don’t have to walk in the laundry full of filled up wee pads and poo lol. Dogs are smart if you train them correctly it will take a week maybe two :) start potty training as soon as you can, 8 weeks minimum. Even if it’s raining.

This has happened or you’re anticipating it? Most dogs don’t care or like the rain. You’re also going to have a hell of s time training if you start with puppy pads. Don’t use them to begin with and you’ll have a much easier time. Take pup out every two hours, around meals, and as soon as you wake up/before you go to bed. Treat them and say “good pee” or “good poop” each time they go.

I just put them outside. I stood out there with them until they went and told them to go potty and gave lots of treats after they did. But, my dalmatian was 2 months old when we got him and my rescue was 4 months old.

I'm sorry I can't remember how I got my baby to potty in the rain, I do remember when it would snow he would go on our covered deck and I would clean it up. I really just wanted to comment bc I'm a Boston mom too! This is my baby domino

Considering he’s only 7 weeks (which I believe is against the law to sell an animal or give away one that young)  he will definitely need a lot of training! Puppies need time to bond with litter mates otherwise they may not understand mannerism and general social cues of what’s acceptable and not. Look into it and talk to a professional! Have to go out with him or he'll stand on the porch. Sometimes he waits until it stops, if he has to go bad enough he goes super fast and races into the house.
