Neck propped up or not?

My son will be a week old tomorrow and I have his head propped up when he sleeps. He actually got chocked on his milk this morning and started spitting it up after I layed him down. Who else props their babies head up?

Answer

No. Babies should sleep flat on their backs or else it can cut off air flow. He also probably spat up some milk cuz you laid him down too shortly after he ate and his stomach hadn't settled yet. My son had the valve that's at the bottom of his esophagus and top of his stomach was under developed and so he had to sit up for about 15 mins after every single feeding so he wouldn't puke everything back up until he was almost 9 months old.
