Another baby exactly 2 years later!

Sarah

So my son was born 7/29/17 via an emergency c-section after 36 hours of labor which resulted in me only dialating 4 cm! I was frustrated that I wasn’t able to have my natural birth but just glad to have him and me healthy. The resulting days and even first month were so painful and definitely the hardest time of my life but we got through and I felt stronger for it. Fast forward a year and we start trying for baby #2. It’s takes a few months for us to conceive because my husband works away from home for a month at a time then he’s home for a month. Well in November we find out we are expecting our second baby and are super excited. Then we find out our due date is actually the day before my sons due date was and I just have this feeling that my baby will be born on the same day. Well I have a successful pregnancy no complications other than gestational diabetes which was controlled through diet, exercise, and a very low dose of medicine. Fast forward to middle of July and my doc tells me we need to start talking about our options because the baby is getting big and since I’m on medicine to treat the gd it’s not a good idea to go past my due date. We had a vbac planned and she said if I went another week we’d have to talk about induction. That was Friday 7/26/19. She stripped my membranes and we went home and started doing everything we could think of to get labor started. Well on 7/28 at 10 pm my water breaks! I tell my husband this is it we are having this baby on our sons birthday. We go to the hospital and they confirm my water has broken. We get checked in and begin waiting for our baby to arrive. Only problem is yet again my labor isn’t really progressing. By the time my doctor checks me at 9 am the next morning I’m only dialated to 2 cm! I’m super frustrated that this is happening again but my husband and I had already discussed what we wanted to do so I told my doctor we decided that at 2 pm we wanted to reassess and see how far along I was and if still not progressed much we’d do a C-section. Well 2 pm rolls around and my doctor comes to check me again and still only at 2 cm so we say go ahead let’s do a C-section. From there it’s disappointment but anxious because I’m about to meet my baby! So we get to the operating room and I get my epidural and the doctor finally comes in and gets me started and then they bring my husband and mom in just in time for them to see our baby being born. And just before she is born my doctor leans over the curtain and tells me it’s a good thing we did a C-section because my previous uterine incision is very thin and I could have easily ruptured it had I done a vbac. So now I know I won’t be attempting anymore vbacs! Anyways at 3:21 pm on 7/29/19, exactly 2 years after my son was born, we welcomed our beautiful baby girl! She is perfect and I’m actually glad now how my labor turned out because it’s been so much easier on my body this time as far as recovery and mood! Now to try to plan the next one for 2 years from now! Lol
