How much would you pay someone to watch your LO in your or their home instead of sending them to daycare?

Back story: My husband and I were all set to send our 4.5 month old daughter to day care in september which is going to cost us $1400 a month. We were sending her to the day care where my best friend has worked for years so I felt comfortable with it. This same friend texted me today and asked if I would be interested in having her watch my daughter instead of sending her to day care.

Problem is I have no idea how much to pay her... I did ask her but shes still at work so not able to text back consistently. After going back after maternity leave we paid a sitter $50 a day to watch her. She only had her 2 days a week and came to our house.

I want to find a balance between getting a cheaper rate than daycare but still paying her a decent amount.
