My lactation nurse said not to pump before baby.
Keep the good stuff in there as long as possible.

I was told do not start pumping until after you have the baby because your baby needs that first milk you produce because of the antibodies it has and the nutrients... also they said nipple stimulation like that can cause you to go into labor.

I’m 37 today and been hand expressing for a week. Your milk won’t come in until the placenta is gone. That’s when the hormone starts being released so you’ll be fine to pump. Freeze it for when baby gets here if you want to, that’s what I’m doing because I had a hard time recovering last csection.

My midwife told me not to use a breast pump but to hand express colostrum if I could, after 37 weeks. I collected mine using tiny syringes, literally drop by drop and have frozen it. I might not need it but where I’m having a C section it could be used if for some reason I can’t give Baby it’s first feed. I’m in the UK so not sure if it’s different elsewhere but the benefits are supposed to be really good for baby.
