For those of you who are TTC, did you go to the OBGYN to have a preconception checkup? And did you feel it was necessary to do this?

I didn’t, but wish I had because I learned after getting pregnant that I’m no longer immune to rubella and if you come into contact with rubella while pregnant, the birth defects can be severe.

I didn't necessarily do a preconception check up but I went at around 6 months or trying and for a general checkup. She then scheduled bloodwork and gynecologist visit. Bloodwork was like $5000 (pre insurance) and normal so totally not worth it for me.

Well, I did & I think it's the smart thing to do. You won't know if it was necessary or not unless you do it, so just because mine didn't end up turning anything up that we needed to know about doesn't mean I think I should've skipped it. (So I think your poll might turn out a little weird.)

I have done it and I want to say it wasn't so necessary because it's a person's own choice however I needed a repeat shot for rubella to be protected while pregnant. 
You can't get that repeat shot while you're already pregnant and you don't want to get in touch with rubella or the measles while pregnant because they can seriously harm your baby.
You are here to protect your baby as it has no means to do it itself.
I feel like if it's something you are considering... Please go. 👍
