Only child?

If you grew up as an only child, did you like it? Why or why not?

My little brother is 11 years younger than me, so I spent half my childhood as an only child. Having experienced both, I wouldn’t trade my brother or the memories we have for anything in this world!

I was an only child until I was 20 and moved out so it still counts. 😂 I didn’t like it very much mainly because I was always bored. I also didn’t have a sibling to have a bond with, like I’m so jealous of girls with sisters who when they go through something they just have that person they can call up and trust lol. It makes going places harder too if you don’t want your kid to be bored out of their tree, like every time we went camping or to an amusement park or something I had to try to find a friend who was allowed to come with us or it was so boring just being with the adults, same with holidays like Halloween... I swore to myself I would never make my child be an only child because it was so lonely. At the same time though I’ve said these things to people with siblings and some of them have told me having siblings was the worse thing ever, they didn’t get along with them and were picked on by them, etc. so there’s pros and cons to everything lol.

I think this is a grass is greener type question. I grew up with a sibling and my husband didn’t. He always says he wish he had a sibling and loves to hang out with my big family. I, on the other hand, am not too fond of a big family and often imagined life without a sibling growing up. But I also have a strained relationship with my parents and sibling. 🤷‍♀️

I was an only child!!!! My grandparents raised me! 
Honsetly, I enjoyed it. It did get boring at times. But I learned to keep myself entertained, I loved my stuff animals more for it. Haha I got all the attention, like it or not. 
I honsetly enjoyed it and wouldn't have traded it for the world.

I was raised by my aunt and have a sister whose 11 years older than me who was raised by my mom, so I was basically an only child.
The answer to this question is "yes and no" 
Pros: 
1. I got so many opportunities that I couldn't have had if my aunt and uncle had more kids. I got to go to camps, take voice lessons, go on trips.. etc.
2. I got the full attention of my parents, whether I liked it or not 😂.
3. I learned how to entertain myself from an early age and feel like it helped my creativity.
Cons:
1. I didn't really learn to share until I was an adult and I had roommates.
2. My husband had 3 siblings and had constant friends and support from them that I never experienced. I personally had struggles making friends growing up and would have loved someone close to my age that I knew ultimately was on my side.
3. I never had anyone to blame anything on so I got in trouble for everything 😂.
