I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant with my second son due a month after my first son turns two. I originally didn't want to have a shower or a sprinkle because I personally thought it would be tacky and distasteful considering I have everything from my first son. But my mom and sister in laws finally talked me into doing a sprinkle just to get diapers and wipes etc. I decided on doing a diapers and donuts sprinkle.

So my idea was to just have something very relaxed and informal with close family and friends. I figured we would have something at home at the end of October. I envisioned just having a bonfire and roasting weenies and smores and have hot chocolate and apple cider and donuts.

My parents said that's not really appropriate for a baby shower or a sprinkle and plan on renting a nice hall and going all out. Which is nice and all and I know they're excited but I just feel like that's too much when I just had a very over the top shower a couple years ago.

Should I stick to my idea and just do something very laid back and casual? Or is my idea too casual to the point of being tacky and just let my mom go all out and do what she wants?
