Ear piercing?

So I only have regular ear piercings, but my friend got her helix done (I think that's what it's called it on the top of her ear by the side) and I instantly fell in love with it. And I'm just curious if anyone had it done. How much did it hurt, where would you get it done, what does the hole look like when you take the piercing out? Any info would be great!

i’ve had it done for a while.... kinda hurt but definitely wasn’t unbearable, i want a second one. definitely get it at a tattoo shop. i haven’t taken mine out since getting it done so idk what the hole looks like

Wow everyone is saying theirs hurt, but I’ve had 3 done, 1 by itself and 2 next to each other, and honestly none of them hurt that badly, but I did cry with the single helix because I was 12 when I got it (I got the two a few weeks ago and I’m 15 atm). I thought the 2 next to each other that I got at the same time would hurt A LOT but I could barely feel either of them, to me it hurts more having the jewellery put in afterwards. I also recommend going to a place just for piercings. I got my helix at shop that just had a piercing room out that back and I’ve always regretted it, but my other 4 not love piercings I’ve gotten at a piercing shop (skin kandy, but that’s in aus so idk if that’s relevant) and they’ve all healed perfectly and barely hurt.

Pain is different for everyone but for me my helix was so freaking painful I doubt I will be going back for another. I love it and think it’s looks so nice but the pain for me is a big no. Part of it may have been that the piercer was slow. It felt like he took forever and my mom said it looked slow when he was doing it. After the piercing the pain didn’t just go away. I was out shopping and didn’t even want to go to anymore stores after that. Ibuprofen definitely helped. For the first 3 weeks it was sore and pretty much always hurting for me even if I didn’t bump it. If I bumped it the pain was worse. On the 5th day I rolled over on it in my sleep and you do not want to do that. The swelling and pain for the next two days were unbearable and I had to call out of work because I just felt so out of it. I may sound like a baby but I’m not sure why my helix was giving me so much trouble. If you get it do not sleep on it and I 100% recommend h2ocean spray. I use it on my nose and helix and swear by it. It saved my helix from infection after sleeping on it and has been healing my nose nicely as well. Also DO NOT get it done with a gun. It can shatter your surrounding cartilage, they do not use the correct jewelry, and it can cause more pain for the actual piercing. Get it done with a needle and by a professional piercer!

I have an industrial. The first one hurt but it wasn’t unbearable, but the second part hurt way worse just because my ear was already tender and inflamed. 
Definitely get it done at a tattoo shop. And honestly my advice to you is: if you want to get it, get it. Yes, it hurts but the pain is temporary for a lifetime or beauty that is so worth it! You only got one life so if you want an extra hole in your ear, go for it!
