Pacifier or no pacifier ???!

I have a week old baby and I’m not entirely sure if I want to use it yet 🥴 
When would you use it if you did?

I honestly don’t know why you wouldn’t use it. Besides helping to calm a child, their use is proven to reduce the risk of SIDS. If your child will take it, why not have that extra benefit?
The nurses gave our daughter one in the hospital and she’s been using it since about four hours old. We’ve only ever kept them in the bassinet/crib, so they’re only a tool for naps and sleeping.

I’d personally wait as long as you can. Out of my mom’s 7 kids, her 5 girls hated pacifiers and her two boys only used them in the hospital

My daughter has been using them since she was born. There's times where she wants it and others where she won't take it or spits it out. They are helpful for soothing though!

I WISH my baby would take a pacifier to soothe, it’s the most difficult thing in the world to calm him down when he is upset. On top of that I have a lot of pacifiers😐

Pacifiers are good when the baby is little because it helps drop the risk of SIDs down. I plan to use one until my kid is about 6 or 7 months old then start cutting down on using them.

I literally started 4 hours ago with my little one. He’s 10 days old but when you used to cry and night for milk he’d cry soo much so hard to hear and feel sorry for him but that’s the time either he’s changing or waiting for the milk to thaw so tried it last night and it worked! Really glad I did, the feeding process was sooo much calmer then normal!

My son's been using one since he left the hospital it helps me get him to sleep at night and gives me a couple of minutes when he's hungry to get the bottle warm

My son started using one since a couple days after we left the hospital. He didn’t like the Phillip soothie ones or ones that shape, he likes the orthodontic ones with a flat bottom. He’s 15 months and still uses one, I’ll wean him of it soon.

If they don’t need it or love it why use it? I would only want to use one if they are a thumb sucker easier to take a pacifier away later (coming from someone who works in dental and sees the damage thumb suckers or long term pacifier use does)

My son has used it since he was born but only when he falls asleep, spits it out as soon as he is asleep. Doesn't use it as night.
