Anyone not doing co sleeping/same room sleeping and having baby start out in crib alone ?!

Just so curious to how this changed over the years and why it’s so important, all the older ladies/moms in my life are adamant that crib sleeping off the bat is the way to go 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m open either way just really curious on how and why everyone feels the way they do on this topic!
