Gas or epidural?

Question

For those of you who have already given birth, did you get gas, epidural, or have a natural birth? And why? Trying to figure out my birth plan and have heard conflicting things about each. Right now I think I’m the most interested in the gas as I’ve heard less horror stories with this but I don’t know all too much about it. Any input is appreciated :)

Epidural. I don’t see the point in being in unnecessary pain. It’s not even proven that epidurals give you back pain afterwards. There are risks but everything is a risk. The risk was minimal enough for me and the pain was too much to try and tough it out. It actually helped me progress too and I got my daughter out in 10 mins.

I wanted all natural and also has, but was very open minded about needing epidural. In the end my labour progressed so quickly that they didn’t have time to give me anything! It is extremely painful though I won’t lie, so if you get offered something (or don’t be afraid to ask) then go for it if you need it!

Epidural with first worked wonderfully, no complications. Epidural with second worked for a little while then stopped, that was awful after the sweet relief the pain comes back full force not fun. Third came so fast it was all natural, not as bad as the second one because there was no break from the pain it was just constant.

The gas made my anxiety skyrocket and I felt so out of control. Apparently this is a possible side effect. With my epidural i felt no pain, laughed watching cartoons the whole labor, and was up and walking a few hours later. Next birth epidural 10000%

I used the gas towards the very end and it did nothing for pain, but it really helped me focus on breathing as you have to breath in through your mouth and out through your nose to use the gas, that really helped get me through the last few contractions before pushing for some reason I had a hard time with that breathing technique and so I really had to focus lol

I made it completely without the epidural labor pain was severe, but they put an epidural as l in me at 10cm and my son was born. The epidural didn't even have time to set in. I literally pushed the button and then my son was put. I had a precipitous labor which some doctors are beginning to think are some of the most painful labor as when a woman has been laboring for awhile her body naturally sends out chemicals to help with the pain. This is the same reasoning as to why some people with chronic pain get use to it. Anyhow epidural may be worth it if you have a low pain tolerance or if you dont want the hassle of pain meds or needles and have a high pain tolerance five it a whirl! I didn't get the option of gas

I went naturally for a good for hours, used gas on and off during my active labour when the pain got almost unbearable, got in the a birthing pool which helped and then used the gas properly when I thought I couldn't cope. Once I gave in and actually breathed properly, took the gas properly and let my body do everything naturally things moved so quickly and I managed to be completely in my own head without panicking like I was beforehand. It turned out of be the birth I'd always wanted despite previously being told I may have to be monitored and not even allowed to move. Unbelievably painful of course, but everything I'd hoped for.

I did it all natural my labor and delivery lasted 3 days. I wanted to be in tune with my body and be able to move freely. I was scared of not having control of my legs. It was a self confidence booster for me. 😊💕 I heard great thing about gas and the epidural.

I had an epidural my first time and to be honest I still had major pain with my contractions, they had me turning on my side every half hr till I was fully dilated. ( though i was way inexperienced and wasnt breathing right and moaning  amd crying the whole time) (second time i had a great breathing technique)With my second i didnt not have time for an epidural things went so quick. The pain was the same and maybe a half hour before her birth It was intense and no time for epidural i was fully dilated in a half hr and had her. Honestly dont know if it helped the first time. Kinda think it felt the same with and without. But we are talking 8 yrs in between experiences
