8 weeks pregnant can I sand and stain wood?

Question

We had our first appointment yesterday at 8 weeks and heard a strong heartbeat!
I work with wood so I use stain, paint and am around a lot of saw dust. 
My husband has been doing everything for me until we talked to the doctor but my doctor said I am okay to use everything as normal. I just don’t know how I feel about that. He said I would literally have to drink the stain for it to hurt my baby. Anyone have experience working with stain and standing?

Just make sure it’s well ventilated and if you start to get lightheaded stop. We just did a project where we stained wood and I tried to help but the standing up/bending over wasn’t good for me so I had to stop. If you don’t breathe in the fumes it should be ok.

I would just use a face mask and try and be in an open space /outside to reduce any possible risks. But if you doc says it's fine then go for it 😊

I wouldn’t personally use stain while pregnant. If you’re going to, make sure it’s in a well ventilated area like outside and maybe wear a mask.

I'm an artist and had to ask similar questions too! You're fine as long as everythings well ventilated (hopefully outside) and you wear a mask and gloves. I work with mostly varnishes and resins and she just said to do that and if I feel concerned to take a shower afterwords to get any residuals off and try not to have skin contact.
