what do you do about being around unvaccinated children?

i’m just curious everyone’s take on this. i sort of get freaked out about this stuff because in my area there was an unvaccinated toddler that gave a 7 month old a disease (can’t remember specifically which one) and the baby died. 
So i go to a mommy and me play group at my local pregnancy center and on tuesday i overheard one of the moms talking about her 2 yr old not being vaccinated. this really makes me anxious especially because of hearing about that other 7 month old. has anyone else been in this kind of situation. i would hate to stop going because i really enjoy the other moms and kids but like that also terrifies me. anyone who let me know what they did in this situation or what they would do?

Antivaxxers are everywhere unfortunately.  I know it’s super scary, but it won’t just be found in this playgroup.  It’ll be at the grocery store, swimming pools, malls, public libraries - everywhere.  I feel that the best we can do is vaccinate our own kids and hope that and herd immunity is enough.

Some children cannot be vaccinated because of allergies. They rely on herd immunity. Look it up, .gov sites are best and it will really enlighten you!

Nope. I would stop going to the group and I’d tell the group why. That’s dangerous. It’s important too that people who don’t vaccinate understand the consequences. It’s literally, in no uncertain terms, unsafe for your infant.

I hate how rude and exclusive people are towards others who are not vaccinated, especially children. I’m not vaccinated, my children are. I am fine and so are my children. I never gave my friends a disease growing up and thank GOD nobody shunned me or kept me away as a child like most of you would do. That situation was very extreme and it’s sad you automatically recoil from a child who is likely very healthy and sweet.

The child might not be able to be vaccinated for some reason! Also do you go out in public to the mall and supermarket etc? Because you’re FAR more likely to pick up a disease where there have been hundreds of gross people walking around all day (many unvaccinated) than you are from one unvaccinated 2 year old 🤷‍♀️ so if a 2 year old scares you I would never touch a food court chair or table or a shopping cart ever again 😂🤮
