How many IUIs before IVF? And when can I test?

Hey guys, 
I just did my 3rd IUI on Sat. August 3rd, this time without any trigger shots. Just 5 mg of Letrozole on CD 3-7. 
I had 2 follicles, 23 mm and 18 mm, lining was 12 mm and sperm was 14M count and 77% type b. 
Just wondering how many IUIs are you doing before considering IVF? 
And when can I do a pregnancy test at home? Since I didn’t trigger this time... my beta is scheduled for Aug. 16. But I want to do a home tests before then.... when should I do one? How many DPIUI should I do one?

Most drs will suggest switching to IVF after 3 IUIs bc studies have shown that if you didn’t get a sticky bean in the first three tries, the chances of it working in try 4, 5, 6, + go way down. It isn’t that the early tests do anything to your body to lessen the chances of success, it’s just that if your body is going to respond well to IUIs at all, it will happen within 3 tries usually. 
Our insurance covers 6 IUIs, but the dr said (as usual) she wants to switch to IVF after 3 of them. I asked why the insurance would even offer more than three in the first place if all of this is true, and it’s bc ppl may want more than one baby :) so if one of the first three IUIs works, then later on you have more tries to use for future kiddos.

My infertility doc suggested up to 3 cycles to try IUI and then going to IVF, although he told me we could go to IVF sooner if we wanted

I live in Ontario and my doctor told me she’ll only do 4 rounds even though the gov pays unlimited from my understanding

Start testing about 10dpiui. Stop testing at beta. 
Why no trigger? 
We did 3 IUIs and the switched to IVF. I wanted something with much better odds and we were already almost meeting the deductible so we thought, why not? Took 2 months of no meds, IUI, treatment of any sort, to start my IVF cycle.

I got my 3rd iui on the same day!! I’ll definitely be doing IVF next if necessary. My stats were pretty similar, two strong follicles, 7mil sperm. I’m gonna wait to test on 8/17. I wouldn’t test any sooner than next Thursday. Good luck to us both!!
