Is it okay to swaddle your newborn?

So I just found out you're not suppose to but your newborn in onesies because it can irritate the umbilical cord stump. I didn't even think about that. But it got me thinking, well what about swaddling her? Is that going to irritate it as well?

Ummmmm. This is nonsense. Onesies and swaddling are perfectly safe for newborns.

I always swaddled right from birth.  And used onesies as soon as they were home from the hospital.  Both of my girls had very healthy umbilical stumps that dried up and fell off by 5 and 7 days.

I have never heard of no onesies. That’s all my kids wear for the first bit. And sleepers. I’ve heard not to swaddle but I just hold my babies and cosleep so I’ve never really swaddled anyways. I am not against it though. Just always wear my babies at first.

You can do both, what you read is untrue or you misunderstood it.
You shouldnt swaddle after like 4 months when they can roll so swaddling is o ly for newborns. And of course they can wear onesies, what else would they wear with that logic?

My son was in onesies all the time and swaddled as soon as he was born and he had no issue with his stump falling off. The nurses or doctors never mentioned that to me. I think it’s totally fine

I haven’t heard this before. Both my baby’s have wore sleepsuits / onesies and the cord has dropped off fine. Never been sore or irritated. I don’t think its true! In fact what on Earth do you put a newborn in if not a onesie ?!

I have never heard that before and was never told that. My little one wore onesies.
