Can I stop my period?

Question

I'm going on a trip in November and I'm going to be getting my period for the trip...
I'm not on any birth control but thought about going on the pill to have a lighter flow.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m not sure how healthy it is to stop your period (probably not at all) 
But in the past I used birth control pills and ate a lemon! I believe the lemon worked on its own as well or at least makes the flow pretty light for me.

Birth control stopped my period entirely- just don’t take the sugar pills. It’s completely fine and won’t hurt you any. Don’t worry about it being possibly unhealthy.

i use transexamic acid it really works with my body as i suffer from very heavy periods
