Thoughts on IUD?

Hi ladies, please share your opinion, thoughts, pros/cons, and experiences with your IUD! Been thinking about getting one but wasn’t sure. Thanks :)

I had Liletta put in at the end of May, I bled for two weeks a few days after with my period, then had a light period a month later, and haven't had one since. I don't have any symptoms, weight gain, acne, etc.

Ive had mine for about a week now (Mirena), so I cant speak to long term effects just yet. But short term-very happy thus far. Insertion was annoying, but being a heavily tattooed/pierced person it wasn’t the worst. I’ve been spotting/light bleeding since, but I’m told that’s normal.
I can’t say if it’s directly related to Mirena or just coincidence, but I’ve had more positive self-esteem days in the past week than I’ve had in months, and I feel thinner than before as well! Again, could just be mind games/coincidence, but at this point I’m not complaining.
Original intent in getting my IUD was to stop my periods. Despite being regular(within a day or two each month), they’re heavy (super plus every 2 hours on worst days) and a nuisance.

I had the mirena for a year and I didn’t like it. The morning after I had it put in I broke out alll over my face and back. It was so weird almost like a rash but it was acne. The acne got a little better after a couple months but never went away until I had the mirena removed. I also found it was painful to have the mirena put in, and caused painful cramping for several days after insertion. And after sex I got weird cramping from my husband hitting the mirena. He could feel the mirena during deep sex too. Personally I’ve had much better luck with the pill. I’ve tried a few kinds of bc pills and most of them have had no side effects for me. I think it just depends on your body 🤷🏻‍♀️ My best friend has the mirena and LOVES it which is why I got one in the first place. Try it! But it’s like any other form of BC, some people love it and others hate it. Gotta try it to find out!

I had mirena and hated it. I got phantom kicks all the time, gained a lot of weight, was very moody, always broke out, and sex was painful even after trimming the strings multiple times. The only good thing about it was I didn’t have a period.

Ive had mirena for a year and i love it. I have heavy periods and mirena is fda approved to treat heavy periods. My periods stopped after month 4. Only side effect was 2 weeks of bad cramps. Insertion was like intense cramps i havent had kids. No pharmacy, no pills. I got it for free. We dont use condoms or pull out and i havent gotten pregnant. Ive even used antibiotics and meds dont interact with it. I love it!
