Are water fountains clean?

My work doesn’t allow water bottles and I get very thirsty but I hate drinking out of water fountains. In your opinion are they sanitary?

It's funny because I thought they werent that sanitary until my ap chem class in hs had us do this experiment where we swabbed things and watched their bacteria grow. I swabbed the nozzle and the hand push and a little bit of bacteria grew but not compared to the swab from a door handle this girl took. Overall, I still drink from them especially if I have no water bottle.

Is the water clean? Probably, but the fountain itself has touched so many peoples mouths, it’s so gross 😭 even if YOU don’t put your mouth directly on it, other people have, so their germs are on the spout and then the water comes out of the spout and into your mouth. literally meningitis has spread this way......

I usually just let it run for a few seconds before taking a drink. It's probably just tap water, so as long as the water in your area is safe to drink I wouldn't be too concerned :)

Its just as safe as any tap water coming from a regular faucet 🤷🏻‍♀️
