Baby birth story
Well my story starts on a Sunday. July 15 2018. My SO had his brother and sister over for dinner. I was taking a bath because I didnt feel well. I was talking to his sister thru the bathroom door asking her questions about going into labor. I was having severe back pain and contractions and I felt really nauseous. My SO called the dr help line. I told them what was going on and they told me to monitor how I was feeling. They said to call in the morning.
The next morning I called and we discussed how the night went. Pretty uneventful. I headed into work an hour later. My boss said I didnt look so good.
On Tuesday I went into work and my boss sent me home. I was having worse back pain and could barely move. Called the dr again and they said to keep monitoring it. So i did.
Wednesday morning i called them again and the night was once again uneventful. Except this time i was having mild contractions. I went into work that day and was completely fine all day.
I woke up on Thursday unable to get out of bed and I was puking bad. I called the dr and they had an appt for me at 2 PM. I called my boss and he said that was fine to stay home and call him after the appointment. I spent all Thursday morning puking and I couldnt even keep water down.
Fast forward to the appointment. The dr said I was 2 cm dilated and there was something severely wrong with my kidneys. She was admitting me to the hospital because I was due in a couple days. My SO called our boss and told him what was going on.
I got admitted in and we got our room and they ran all kinds of blood tests and urine tests and told me I was mildly dehydrated. They also couldnt get the baby monitor to stay on my stomach. My daughter kept kicking it off her. I spent all night getting fluids in me until they got the test results back.
Friday morning at 5 am the head dr comes in to explain my situation. I have a bad kidney infection. The pressure and inflammation are suffocating the baby. He was going to give me a heavy duty antibiotics in my iv along with extra fluids. He said he didnt know if it would cause me to go into labor or not. The pain didnt go away. It steadily got worse. Around lunch my SO got me soup and I threw it up. I still couldnt keep anything down. I talked to my boss a bit that day to tell him what was going on. I said it looks like I'm staying in the hospital a while. He told me he understood. He also joked a little to try and cheer me up which didnt work too well. Friday afternoon around 3 I lost my mucus plug. An hour later my water broke. I was still on heavy iv. They transferred me to the labor rooms and got us checked in. I told my mom and she showed up around 6 ish. The nurse explained to her what was going on etc. The dr came in and I was only 4 cm dilated. She asked if I wanted an epidural because of my kidney infection and I said yes. That was done and I slept most of the night. I woke up around midnight and my mom and i were talking while my SO and sister slept. My sister woke to go the bathroom and the dr came in to check on me. She said i was in active labor and the baby was on her way out. she was already more than half way down. My sister woke my SO up because I couldnt get him up to save the life of me. The baby came out at 3:07 am on Saturday July 21. She wasnt in the clear though. She was suffocating and her body was gray. I remember knowing in my gut that something was wrong. She tried to cry but couldnt. I remember feeling panicked and scared. They took her to the side of the room where I couldnt see and put a tube in her and sucked all kinds of fluid out of her. I remember hearing the machine and the suctioning noises. They gave her to me finally and I remember crying. I was sobbing so hard. My baby was here. Finally. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days total. She wouldn't eat and she was dropping weight rapidly. The last night we were there she wanted to eat. She ate like you wouldn't believe. She ate non stop. The nurse said if it wasnt for that they would have kept her longer and put her in natal care.
