Tips to get 18 month old to fall asleep on her own?

Question

We currently have to hold our daughter in cradle position after she finishes her milk before falling asleep. Any tips on what worked for you mamas to get your child to fall asleep on their own without any holding and cradling?

Consistency is key!! The 1st week was the hardest, but I tell her time to go night night and she goes to her room and I change her diaper, stand her in her crib give her paci and a bottle filled with water I tell her okay Time to lay down and she lays down, I cover her up, give her the water and her favorite teddy and I tell her good night I love you and I turn off her lights and she’s out in 15 min or less no crying. After the 1st week she started getting used to it and after 2 weeks she loved it. But I had to do exactly the same thing every night, no changes and I couldn’t put her to bed to early, has to be around the same time very night and that’s been working for me for months! And don’t give in to crying the 1st week, unless it’s screaming and you know they won’t sleep, but don’t take them out or hold them...I learned that the hard way, I figured out jsut covering her back up and rubbing her back and humming helped! And a fan on low in her room. That’s what has worked for me!

Every night I have my daughter say good night to her dad and give him a hug and a kiss and let her know it's time for bed. I turn off the lights and lay next to her until she whines down and starts falling asleep. Once she's asleep, I transfer her to her bed. But it she doesn't fall asleep and continues to want to play, i put  her in her crib with her favorite stuffed animal, kiss her good night and let her fall asleep on her own. She's actually pretty good at it and doesn't cry.

Similarly we just got rid of of our son’s binkie. He was only allowed to have it for end and nap but he was SO dependent on it.
Honestly, we just did it cold/turkey. One night I just took it away and never gave it back. Those first few nights were rough. The first night he cried for almost an hour before falling asleep but he woke up again at 1 AM and didn’t fall back asleep until 4 🙈😭🤯 it was a good thing I did the transition when my husband was out of town - he doesn’t handle our son crying very well and would have given in 😬 AND I was mentally prepared for the battle. It was still hard, but I was committed and it payed off.
The second night I got him the “Whale” in the picture. It helped distract and soothe him and after that each night progressively got better. By the fourth night he stopped crying all together. 
It’s such a relief being done and knowing he’s no longer reliant on it though! Good luck! Hope you get it figured out!
