Folic acid
I m 6 wks and 1 day pregnant today and I found out 10 days ago. With my husband we didn’t really plan to have a baby now, we tried just a few times last month and it happened to our surprise! I started taking folic acid just 8 days ago, but everywhere I read, it says I should have started at least 1 month before planning to get pregnant in order to avoid any danger that my baby might get any deformation or similar ( the risk is 70% lower if you do so). Even my doctor said it’s basically pointless to start taking folic acid just now!!? (Ps. My doctor is another disappointing story and will most likely change him.)
Now, I m sure i m not the only one that got pregnant without planning it “that well”, and am sure all those mothers or at least most of them got healthy babies.. so I don’t understand is that SOOO important? do I have to be paranoid now cause I didn’t take it BEFORE?! I think generally i m a healthy person, only i was a smoker, when I found out I quit straight away. Apart from that, i don’t feel anything being wrong with me. But all this emphasis is just upsetting... anyone having a similar experience?
