Paranoid FTM - is my baby getting enough milk (EBF)
I’ve been researching all day and I’m pulling my hair out. I might be overthinking but I’m worried my son (one month old) isn’t getting enough milk from me - he is exclusively breastfed.
Here’s why:
My son is a month old and and yesterday he seemed to feed non stop (I’ll attach my app data from yesterday). He feeds very close together and for waaay longer than the recommended.
After the last 11 pm feed I was exhausted and asked hubby to take baby and feed him the 2oz of expressed milk I had. He did this and baby slept until 5:45am the next morning. It seems odd to me that he can breastfeed all day for hours but he gets 2oz of expressed milk and sleeps for 6hrs!
Also, baby almost always falls straight to sleep on the breast. I try and rouse him which gets him sucking again but he won’t actually wake up.
Here’s why I’m not sure if he is indeed getting enough:
he has plenty of dirty and wet nappies.
Hubby says he can hear him swallowing (I can’t but asked him to check and said he could every few seconds).
When he’s awake he is very alert. All of the midwives and health visitors have said this when they’ve seen him and none are concerned that he’s not feeding well. I also think a lot of the feeds are for comfort (we have decided not to use a dummy/pacifier).
Any thoughts of advice will be appreciated!
