Anyone have Gender Disappointment?

Question

So for anyone that experienced gender disappointment, how long did it take for it to go away? Although I had a feeling we were having a boy I was still hoping for a girl. Just found out today it’s a boy.
Of course we love our little baby and are still excited, but I must admit I’m a bit disappointed/sad and worried I’ll be so stressed about wanting to have a girl next pregnancy.
Any thoughts?

It’s ok. We definitely hoped for a boy this time, but we’re having another girl. We just don’t have boys in my family. I was super bummed at first and it’s gone down a good bit. Comes back up when people say “maybe the next one will be a boy”. That sounds amazing, but my husband isn’t completely onboard with having a third right now.

I found out in June that we’re having a third boy. I’ve always dreamed of a girl and it was beyond frustrating and disappointing. I’ve accepted it but I’m at the point where I may not want to try again. My advice is to try to take it one day at a time. Do little things for yourself that bring happiness until you start to feel better. I am still eager for this baby’s arrival but it has also helped to focus on other things besides the baby (vacation, going out with friends, etc.). Best of luck!

Still disappointed and we found out weeks ago

I’ve known for almost two months that we are having a little boy. This is our first baby. I’m disappointed bc I am in love with the name we have for a little girl. She would’ve shared my initials which would’ve included my maiden name. (My parents had two girls so it’d be a way for my maiden name to go another generation or more). Plus my husband and I haven’t had sex since before we found out I was pregnant. He doesn’t even touch me in a sexual manner anymore. So my mind/hormones is telling me I may not get my little girl bc if he won’t touch me now, why would he touch me after my vagina is essentially destroyed by childbirth?! I’ve cried a lot. I’ve had moody outbursts due to the disappointment that I’ve covered with some other lame excuse. I feel guilty and embarrassed that I’m disappointed. Once I hold this baby boy, nothing else will matter. I hate feeling disappointed right now but I can’t shake it. I don’t think about it as much as I did when we first found out, but it’s in the back of my mind.

Same here, I love my little boy already but i can’t help being impatient and planning my next pregnancy/hoping that one is a girl. I know it’s a couple years away and that makes me sad. I just want a little girl to share things with.

I’m with you. We’ve known the gender for almost 2 weeks. We really wanted another boy but both of us and our families were convinced it was a girl and I think maybe my husband and I partially were convinced it was a girl just because we felt like if we kept telling ourselves it was we’d feel better about it come that time to find out. Well sure enough we’re having a girl. I definitely shed a few tears driving home that day. I went to the store and bought a few outfits because I thought that’d help me feel better. And it did for the few minutes I picked things out but I’ve noticed that still anytime someone asks us if we are excited I have a very hard time saying yes. Obviously we too love the baby already and we’re so happy to have another healthy baby but I’m definitely struggling with it.

Same here, this is our first baby and I was upset not because we were having a boy but because I thought about all the things to do with a little girl growing up and someone to connect with all their lives. After a couple days I finally realized that I’ll love all of my children the same regardless of being a boy or girl and when I say back and thought about the joy of having a healthy child it made that little bit of disappointment go away!
