If and when I go into labor/ water breaks do I call my doctors office or labor & delivery at the hospital I plan on going to. Sorry if stupid question I just don’t know

Its not stupid at all! 😊 I’ve always just gone to/called labor and delivery. Most likely, if you call your doctor, they will just tell you to go to L&D if you think you’re in labor. For my area, and I’ve already had two babies, L&D will assess you and if you’re admitted they will call your doctor for you.

It might be very different where I live.. but I’ve never called anyone before going in. 
But at my hospital we don’t go to L&D, we go to “assessment”

It sounds like every OB is different, mine told me to just head to the hospital when it is time and they will contact her and keep her updated on my status.

You call L&D and they will tell you to come in or not and can have a bed ready for you when you get there.

Whether you start having heavy contractions or your water breaks (whatever comes first), call your doctor. They will advise on when you should go into labor and delivery, right away or if you have time to labor a bit at home. 
I just took a birthing class last week and had the same question!

L&D before going in. I don't have a specific doctor that's delivering my daughter though, just whoever is on call 🤷‍♀️

Not a stupid question! Call labor and delivery, then once they check you in, you can call your doctor's office or you can call your doctor's office on your way into labor and delivery. But I would always contact labor and delivery first
