Has anyone's IUD come out of place?

I have a copper IUD and I'm going to the doctor soon because I believe it has come out of place. 
Has anyone had their IUD come out of place? If yes, how was the process of getting it put back into place?

This has just happened to me last month, I had the copper coil and just before my period I went to check the strings because I knew my cervix would be low and I could feel like the hard match stick end of the plastic! I had had some slight cramping but no real pain. Anyway cue a long weeks wait to see if my period showed up (thankfully it did) Then got myself booked in for a check up. At first the nurse couldn’t feel anything and I was like maybe I had just been paranoid but then after putting in the speculum she said she could see it low in my cervix. I really struggled with the pain level when it was inserted last time so they gave me an anaesthetic injection in my cervix, this was not fun but after a few minutes was very effective, the nurse said the old one would need come out and a new one inserted. To pull it out she made me cough a lot then once it was out she re-measured my uterus which she found to be small, the coil I had in was probably too big hence why it had moved. She then inserted a new mini copper coil and told me she would forward me on to get an ultrasound to double check it was in the right place. I waited two weeks for the scan and all was good. So yeah a little uncomfortable, it’s never exactly pleasant but in all not too traumatic. Hope you have found this useful.
