I will start this by saying I am leaving at the end of this lease with a friend and taking my cat with me.

So I currently live with my older sister in a rental. I have the smallest bedroom, while her and her 10 year old daughter get the main bedroom and second largest room.

The rent is $350 a WEEK, I pay $70 of that because she gets help from the government called rent assistance and if I paid more rent she’d lose a huge chunk of her rent assistance. She asked me to pay that amount. I was and can afford to pay more than that a week.

The problem is she said the house is in my name as well on the lease. Which it is. But in reality all I really get of my own is just my room. I use the kitchen, bathroom and toilet obviously. But I have my own dishes that I get a tiny shelf to stack them all together. I have a small shelf in the fridge which you can’t even stand a single can upfront to give you a picture of how small it is. And one tiny shelf in the cupboard to fit all my other food.

The whole loungeroom is hers, as she has the fold out couch always out. Because she watches tv all day and sleeps on it. Not even using her own bed 95% of the time.

So I never get the opportunity to watch tv unless it’s the tv show she’s watching.

Originally the study was meant to be half her and half mine. One wall each. I was hit with a lot of uni fees to could not afford a table. But she’s put her recliner in my wall now. So I can’t have a study table. I’m a nursing student and I study full time. And I’m left to study on my bed.

I don’t have room for a table in my bedroom.

My sister lives a really dirty life. She rarely does her dishes. Only really to clean a plate when she’s desperate. And there’s no clean bench space in the kitchen or the kitchen table. There’s dirty food wrappers, plates etc all in the loungeroom.

We have a bin in the toilet for obvious reasons. But she doesn’t use it and leaves all the pad wrappers around the bin. She bought a bin for the bathroom. Which it didn’t need. But that’s over flowing and all on the bathroom floor as well.

I wasn’t allowed to take my cat into this lease because the house said no pets, but mainly because even if the house was pets allowed she didn’t want my cat here. Which I’ve owned for a year before I moved in.

Anyway, when my mum has inspections at her house I take my cat for the day as technically she’s only allowed her two cats.

I do pay for my cats food and litter and pay my mum or give her gifts monthly for having him for me.

She’s asked me to take him for her inspection and I also have an inspection around that time. And four major end of semester assignments due. So a very stressful period of time.

My sister expects me to equally clean the whole house with her. And she literally doesn’t give a fuck that I don’t actually use more than half my own house.

I will also add, she can’t afford the house without me. As she studies and won’t get a job. I study and work. She never has enough for when bills come in so I have to pay them all and she pays me back week by week. And she’s in debt to mum for smokes because she can’t afford her habit.

I am leaving after my lease ends. So I know it’s a countdown until it’s over. But I can’t do this anymore.
