Baby food or not? Has anyone started their babies at 4 months on food? Here in the UK they recommend babies being 6 months old!

My LO is 17 weeks old or 4 months in a few days! He has 5x 7oz bottles in a 24 hour period... my question is has anyone started their babies on porridge/baby rice?

In the US, 6 months. We have the 4m appt soon and I’ll see what Pediatrician says but I’m not in any rush. BF just started getting better so if she seems healthy, etc then I’m not going to push it.

I plan on doing baby led weaning and the guidelines for that is at least 6 months. We have our 4 mo check up next week ago as long as her weight gain is still solid I don't plan on starting cereals or anything.

Here in Sweden the recommendation is also 6 months in general. But our nurse practitioner has suggested that he seems ready to try a bit now at four months and that it might cut down on his nighttime eating. So we might try it soon. I guess the best thing to do will vary from one baby to another. It’s not like there’s a magic switch that goes off at exactly six months at all babies that mean they’re ready. 🤷‍♀️

In the US it depends on the pediatrician. My son will be 4 months Thursday and after our appointment monday I can start him on baby food. We will start with the rice central first. Formula isnt filling him up so I'm glad we are able to start them.

We have introduced apples and bananas, she is 19 weeks today. She has a lip tie and has had a lot of latch issues so our pediatrician suggested introducing solids a bit sooner. She’s started to teeth as well so the frozen fruit in tethers has been a life saver for her sore gums!
