Anyone hired a Doula?

I’m 36 weeks. Anyone had experience of hiring a doula? Any idea of cost and would you recommend?

I’ve had a doula. Costs can vary on where you live and the experience of the doula. I’ve lived in a couple places and all the costs I’ve seen are about $600+. You might have trouble finding one so close to your due date so I’d start looking into ASAP. Most doula sites list their pricing, but some you have to contact.

We’ve hired one and haven’t had many meetings yet - I’m only 27 weeks. But I feel so much relief having someone be a constant in my labor (especially someone so knowledgeable and calm)!   36 weeks doesn’t leave a lot of time if you don’t vibe with the first person you meet - but definitely worth a look. We are paying $850 for ours, but maybe it would be different if the contract was for a shorter amount of time commitment (a few weeks vs an entire pregnancy).

I LOVE my doula. I feel so relaxed heading into labor knowing she will be there when I need her. I know she takes on last minute clients, like in labor last minute, so 36 weeks should be fine but I’d definitely say reach out to one sooner than later. I paid $850 for mine but that also included 12 weeks of Bradley Birth Method classes for my husband and I.
