Medicaid as secondary insurance?

I am enrolled in a healthcare plan through my husband’s employer, but it’s less than stellar.  I am a stay at home mom. We currently have 1 child and I’m pregnant. And we make about $60,000 gross income as a household of 3 in PA. 
Has anyone had experience with getting Medicaid as secondary insurance (or any other type of secondary insurance)? What qualified you for that coverage? What did you pay (your premium)? 
We’re just nervous about surprise hospital bills.

I have private insurance and qualified for medicaid. I work full time and have a 10 year old son. I qualified for my states no cost share. So I don’t have a co pay with it. Everything gets ran through my private first and then whats not covered is ran through the Medicaid. I’m not sure about different states but I’m in KY and most every pregnancy case can qualify. That’s really the only reason they said I got it.

I have it as secondary; this baby makes us a family of 6 and I recently had a huge cut in hours at work, so we qualified based on income.  Also, my maternity coverage on the health ins thru my husbands work sucks!  It would have been sooooo expensive on just the one insurance policy.  It covers only tiny bits and pieces of prenatal care and has an outrageous out of pocket and deductible for delivery.
