How many items should go in your first baby registry?

This is my first baby. My friend said I need to add more to my list. She said nobody will think I'm really asking for everything and that I need to created a better variety. I just don't want people to think I'm asking for so many things!

I don’t think a registry should be based on number of items, rather it should be based on what you actually need/want. There are lists online of suggested items to buy for your first baby. I registered for things I knew I would buy as well, used it as sort of a shopping list for myself, so I wouldn’t forget anything. When I am invited to a shower, I like registries with a lot of different priced items so I have variety to choose from based on my budget.

I just added everything. The way I looked at it was it gave them enough options, plus I knew what I still needed when the shower was over.

I added everything i thought i could possibly need. Not just so people will buy it, but also a list for myself. Then after baby shower i still have an ongoing list of what I’ll need or want. And i agree with the clothes. It shows what type i like.

First of all, most of your guests won’t even use your registry to buy things, but for those who DO use it you want to provide a big variety of items in different price ranges. Add everything you will need, plus a couple things that might not be necessary but that you'd like. In case you don't know, people LOVE buying clothes and will always buy clothes. Most never look at the registry. So no need to add clothes unless you're going for practical clothing items like a pack of white onesies for example

I added over 100 items just so people could get a feel of what type of things I liked, like clothes for instance, they could go by that to pick an outfit if they decided to buy from elsewhere.. And then just the every day necessities. Also nice to put just about everything on there so that way you know what you still need after the shower..
