My sweet boy (will be 5 mos on the 16th) has been running a fever since Saturday am. I’d spoken to the pediatricians office twice over the weekend and we’d been giving him Tylenol. He seemed fine otherwise aside from teething but that’s been ongoing. It didn’t sit right with me that this fever wasn’t going away.

I brought him in to be seen this am and we were there over two hours. Everything looked ok so the last thing to check was his urine. They did a clean catch with a bag and then I got him dressed to go... Til they came back in and said his urine showed microscopic blood, leukocytes and protein. Signs of infection. They had to catheterize my poor baby to get a urine culture. I think I’m more traumatized from it than he is. They started him on antibiotics proactively tho we won’t have culture results for a couple days. It never even dawned on me that he could have a urinary tract infection... next step is a kidney ultrasound to make sure there’s no inflammation... I never expected any of this. Such a tough day. He’s such a strong and resilient little guy. 😥😥😥
