I didn't know I was in labor!!!

Diara

I always read delivery stories on here but I never post. Well 3 months later, here it goes lol.

On April 20th I woke up because I thought my water broke. I immediately told my husband and my mother. However when she asked me how did I feel and was it alot of water, I thought to myself maybe I peed a little in my sleep. As a first time mom, I didn't know what to expect and every mother on here described there water breaking as a big gush or continuation. Disappointed, I went back to sleep.

I woke up again around 10am and I went to get my hair done and prepare for my sister n laws baby shower ( which I hosted). The baby shower was a success and not once did I cramp or leak alot. My mother and I left the baby shower around 6pm and started to drive home. My mother started to question me again on how I felt and what I experienced early that morning. After talking to her, she says "I think we should go to the hospital and let them check". In my mind, I felt like they were going to tell me to go home, it's just pee! (Yes, some pregnant women leak a little pee lol). I finally agreed and we headed to the hospital.

Once I got to the hospital, I signed in and another woman was expecting as well. She was crying and yelling and in so much pain. As a first time, mom she scared me. Once we were both signed in, the nurses took us both back to get checked. As I am sitting here with this woman clearly in pain, I started to second guess myself and almost leave. I didn't look like her or feel anything literally. As I sat waiting for my results, I decided to go ahead and start putting on my clothes because I already "knew" what they were going to say and I wanted to save myself from embarrassment.

The nurse went to the other woman first and I could hear her tell the woman that she was not in labor! Me and my mom looked at each other and started to head out. The nurse asked me if I had my bags pack. I told her no and she said " we can't let you leave because you are definitely in labor".

Side note: the other woman's mom was so mean and yelled at her because she wasn't in labor.

I was in disbelief. I felt great and I was 0cm dilated. At this point, I was at risk for infection because my water broke over 12 hrs ago. Labor for me was rough. My doctor did not want to check me until the next day because I was at risk and they gave me meds to start the labor pains. I was in pain until about 12pm the next day. Only to find out that I would have to have an emergency c section!

On 4/21/19 I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy Dontavius Turner Jr (DJ). It was rough but I would do it all over again for him.

Ladies if you are unsure, please go get checked. Have them tell you no because my story could have went another way.
