What does men's fertility testing consist of?

Other than jerking off in a cup.
My husband is nervous and says the Dr will stick a finger in his butt. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that's part of the fertility testing. 
Can someone list off everything their husbands had to have done?

My husband had a semen analysis done once as a baseline, then again as part of our IUI procedure. When it came back with less than ideal results, he chose to schedule a follow up appointment with a urologist (this was completely optional). The urologist did a quick visual exam to check for any obvious irregularities  in his external genitalia. There were no fingers in butts at any point of our fertility treatment process.

Blood work and semen analysis . Maybe an ultrasound of the testicles if they believe there is a structural issue ... the anus doesn’t have anything to do with fertility 🤦🏼‍♀️

If he is unable to produce a semen sample they can reach the prostate from the rectum, but isn’t necessarily part of the test. My husband was able to cum into the cup on his own so didn’t need any further assistance.

My husband had his semen tested. That’s all. Take the cup with you and return it with semen sample at your convenience. Although the sperm have a short time frame that they can live outside the body so that’s the biggest challenge is getting it there in the time frame.
