Ocular migraines

Beth

Yesterday I had some bad visual disturbances around 2pm. This lasted constantly for at least an hour before I had any relief and then it was still frequent periods of the visual disturbances. I had a coworker check my blood pressure at work and it was normal. I thought maybe I’d get a migraine or something but the only thing I noticed was what felt like sinus pressure in my nose. I finally called the ob about 4:40. I just had to make it through my shift before I could do anything about it since I really didn’t think it was pregnancy related. They sent me to the hospital since the office was closing. My evaluation went smoothly and fast! Baby looked great and labs and everything came back great for me and baby boy. They said it was likely an ocular migraine. I’ve never had one like that and usually I don’t get visual disturbances with my migraines that bad and until the migraine has already started. Today, I had a short period of visual disturbances (probably like 4pm) for maybe a few minutes then I got the eye pressure/pain and throbbing in my temples. I’m hoping this is just a stress thing or something and that I stop getting these migraines cuz I cannot function like this! Has anyone else had random ocular migraines or regular migraines later in pregnancy? Did they happen frequently or only if stressed or were they random? Did the migraines eventually lead to any other problems or complications with the pregnancy? I’m just worried it’s going to turn into a bigger problem or that I’m starting to develop pre-eclampsia (all tests were negative yesterday).
