Neighborhood dogs
My husband and I live in a culdesac that consists of four other houses. Most of our neighbors have privacy fences in the backyard. One of our neighbors has two Labradors that they leave out in their backyard.
About a week and a half ago, these dogs got loose and came onto our front porch. My husband needed to take the trash out, so he opened our door and tried to shoo them away by just saying “shoo.” I was in the kitchen, and I heard the dog start growling and snapping. My husband had to step back because it lunged at him.
My husband called the neighbor, told him what happened, and he said “oh, it won’t hurt anyone. I’m not home—just let him run loose until I get back.” My husband calmly explained that he could not take the trash the out, because the dog was growling and acting aggressive. My husband told him someone needed to come get the dog. Our neighbors were perturbed but sent someone.
This morning, the dogs were loose again and one of them bayed our other neighbor and wouldn’t let him walk to his car. The dog was growling and showing it’s teeth.
There are young children in the neighborhood, and I have a one year old. I can just see myself taking my son to the car in his car seat one morning or playing outside with him and these dogs causing problems.
The neighbor keeps blowing it off. What would you do with someone who is not taking it seriously and won’t keep his dogs in the backyard?
