Today my partner finally saw it.
Every morning, without fail, our 4 year old will first check on his baby brother, then immediately ask where Daddy is.
Today that changed, he woke up and heard the door being unlocked as my partner was getting ready to leave. And promptly burst into tears, crying out for his Daddy. Of course, his Dad couldn't leave with him like that, so he shut the door, came back upstairs, and sat down with our 4 year old for a little while. They spoke for a few minutes, then his Dad apologised for needing to leave before going. Where he burst into tears again. So I called him through to have a cuddle with me (March baby was unhappy so I had him on my chest and had only just got him to sleep), so he came through and asked if he could have Daddy's pillow. For once, he's not even acknowledged his baby brother. He's just curled up with his bear and not moved from his Dad's pillow.
My partner knew our Son missed him when he was at work, but actually seeing it broke his heart. I may joke about being outnumbered with our boys (3 against 1), but seeing moments like this and knowing how much they all love one another really makes it worth it ❤️
