My teeth are sooo fucked.

Mayla

Before finding out I was pregnant I was a heavy smoker! My teeth were bad, stained yellow, bleed when brushing and sometimes even hurt when smoking.

Now that I’ve quit smoking and brush my teeth more regularly (brush x2 times a day, and floss once in the morning, along with mouthwash) my teeth are even worse and I have horrible gingivitis, my gums bleed when I eat and pore blood when brushing. The front bottom teeth are so bad that the gums are coming away from the teeth and constantly hurt.

I always have dreams of my teeth being loose or falling out, with getting everything ready for bubs I don’t really have the money to get into the dentist right now.

Will this go away once bubba is born? Does it get better on its own? Are there any tips on how to fix it or even help it while I don’t have the cash to get into the dentist?

You have to take care of yourself!! Teeth problems can get out of hand FAST. i would at least get into a dentist and get evaluated. Tell them you don’t have a ton of money and ask what needs to be taken care of first for your safety. Pregnancy does make teeth worse from what I hear but girl pleeeeease don’t wait!

I work in a dental office and it will definitely NOT get better on its own. I know it’s painful and I’m sorry! Have you looked in your area for a free dental clinic or a dental school? There are also offices that offer free exams and xrays so they can at least diagnose what you need and a payment plan can be set up in most offices. I will say pregnancy may make you more sensitive, but the gums are being pulled away by bacteria and that doesn’t go away on it’s own. Not even from swishing oil in your mouth as some have suggested. Good luck mama!

Hi, ive been an RDA for almost 7 years heres some dental advice. First id like to say it is a very common myth that babies suck the calcium out of your teeth. Your teeth do not regenerate and produce more calcium like other bones do so your body doesnt even waste its time pulling nutrients from them. Women will develop more issues with their teeth due to diet, morning sickness, and reflux. The bacteria in your mouth eat the simple sugars in your diet such as sugars, carbs, and dairy. Milk does not make your teeth stronger, milk has lactose in it which the bacteria break down into sugars which will cause decay, your teeth dont absorb the calcium from milk they do not regnerate so they do not take in additional calcium. While pregnant your blood volume increases, your body responds to bacteria invasions and trauma by sending more blood to the area to aid in healing like when you get a cut, your body forms a scan to protect and heal it. Poor oral hygiene leads to tooth decay, gum recession, and bone loss. Plaque is made up of the bacteria in your mouth, the "glue" they secrete to adhear to your teeth and gums, and all their waste which is essentially bacteria poop. Plaque leads to gum inflammation because your body doesnt like fecal matter trapped up against, to protect itself your body sends more blood to the area which causes your gums to feel painful and bleed when brushing and flossing this is called gingivitis. Because your pregnant your gums will bleed a lot more because of the increased blood volume. When you notice bleeding its a sign that you are not taking good enough care of your teeth in that area. Plaque will harden into tarter over time and at that point brushing and flossing cant remove it, its like concrete, that is what is removed from your gums during your cleaning. Tarter build up leads to bone loss because it essentially eats away the bone it comes into contact with. Holy crap this is long. Sorry lol I just want to be helpful and informative! Ok so product recommendations! Gly-oxide its like $8 a bottle but its amazing and it will last forever because youll only use a few drops of it per brushing session. It destroys the glue the bacteria make making it easier to remove which will allow your toothpaste to be effective in protecting your teeth. Great oral hygiene steps. 1. Brush with gly-oxide for a few minutes2. Floss3. Personally ill brush with glyoxide again so it can get inbetween my teeth and clean in there since I just flossed out more icky stuff. But it would be ok to brush with your flouride toothpaste now. 4. Now is when I would brush with toothpaste I use the crest gum detoxify because its has stanous flouride in it (toothpaste is an entirely other 3 hour conversation lol) I brush about 5 minutes long reapplying toothpaste usually twice and really take my time making sure I get every surface of every tooth. I do this while watching the nightly news wooo multitasking. Putting your teeth to bed as clean as you can get them means you have 8+ hours of protected teeth from all the bacteria since youre not feeding them while you sleep they can not harm you by producing their waste which causes decay! Happy flossing and brushing!! 5

Not sure where the chemist is? We get it in the US at the drugstore in the pharmacy like walmart or walgreens.

Obviously get into the dentist ASAP but if you haven’t heard of oil pulling look it up! It’s a cultural thing my family has been practicing for generations and it’s amazing for teeth/gum health 😁

I got BAD gingivitis during my last pregnancy, and it has already started this pregnancy. Last night I flossed then rinsed with blue mouthwash and when I spit it out it was purple!!!It went away with my first daughter right after she was born!

Gingivitis is common in pregnancy but left untreated it will get worse after pregnancy. Dental care is especially important while pregnant. Please go see a dentist.

Where do you live? Can you apply for Medicaid? Dental would then be free!!! Even working (must be below what the state wants you to make to be eligible) I work almost 40 hours here In Colorado but with being pregnant they let you make a certain amount and I was approved !

I switched my tooth paste to Sensodyne and it has worked so good for me! My dentist recommended it to me. My teeth are so sensitive now. I was not able to drink anything cold with out my whole mouth being in pain. I also started doing coconut oil pulling and it’s been great.
