How long is your EBF baby eating for?

Sometimes my little one will only feed for like 4 minutes. My pediatrician said that is normal as their appetite changes through out the day but I was still curious. Any other related details would be great as well.

Sometimes mine eats only for a few minutes several times a day and sometimes for 45 minutes. It varies a lot. Sometimes she hardly eats for a week & sometimes she eats a lot. But she’s also teething which can cause low appetites

Thanks for the comments! How often are you feeding during the day? I have been doing every 3 hours but have been thinking to try going longer. Also lately she only does one boob at a time, anyone else?

5-10 minutes typically. Sometimes longer if she’s sleepy and wants to comfort nurse.

Sometimes they nurse not to eat. It could be cause they are bored, sad, overwhelmed, just want you close. So that could be it too.

That’s normal! Sometimes Ethan will eat for 4-5 minutes sometimes 10-15 min or more. I think it’s also bc they are more observant and getting more nosy and it’s hard to keep them paying attention to eating. Sometimes he will just pull off just to smile and “talk” to me then I can’t get him back on lol. As long as your baby has enough wet diapers and is content it’s ok :)

Same with mine sometimes she’s done by 6 minutes but there’s times she can eat for up to 35 minutes. I think it just depends on the day and time. As long as your baby is growing and gaining weight she should be fine 😊

My 4 month old will be on me for 30-40 minutes sometimes but most of the time only 12-15minutes. I only do one side for feeds as well. Sometimes she pops off on her own, other times I take her off because I can tell she is falling asleep and just using me as a pacifier lol
