So we got a new puppy recently well he’s almost 5 months now. We love him so much but we are first time dog owners and aren’t familiar with a lot of laws or what you are and aren’t supposed to do I guess. So he’s house trained for now but since he’ll big pretty big my husband wants to make him an outside dog later on. Anyway, since I also have a toddler and puppy is super hyper I let him out side to go potty and close the slide door when I put my toddler to sleep. He usually doesn’t have a problem with staying outside at all, but sometimes barks to get inside. The longest I’ve let him bark is 10 minutes! And again that was during the time I was putting my baby to sleep. So couple hours later animal control shows up. Says that someone called for animal abuse that he’s outside without water and food for hours! He sees that the pup is inside, happy as can be and leaves. So now every time I let him outside even just for 10-15 minutes I make sure to leave him food and water. But few months pass by and they come again! Of course see that we have food and water boals inside and outside and say everything is fine and leave. It’s getting so annoying and frustrating because the few times they came by baby was sleeping, I had to always pull up his vaccine papers, give them my ID and etc..... how do I freaking stop this! Now when I leave for the store I always have to keep him at home in the crate instead of letting him run around in the backyard. As I’ve said before I’m a first time dog owner so am I in the wrong here? I can’t leave him outside at all? I’m so confused
