How to know if my LO is actually hungry?
My 4 week old typically doesnt nap much during the day. He'll wake up around 6 or 7am and won't nap until 3 or 4pm. All day while hes awake he acts like he wants to nurse (making mouth movements, hands to face, reaching for my breasts if they are close to him and trying to find them with his mouth when hes in my arms) so I'm wondering how to know if he's actually hungry all day and maybe isn't getting enough or something or if he's just doing it for comfort? Occasionally he'll take a paci but eventually he stops taking it and sometimes will scream non-stop until I start nursing him and will get frantic quickly when he loses latch. So I'll end up nursing him from almost 7am-3pm with maybe 10-20 min breaks every hour. He also has plenty of dirty diapers so he's definitely eating. I'm thinking its mostly for comfort but I'm not sure how to tell when he's eaten enough. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
