My 5 week old has recently been choking every nursing session !

He gets upset bc he’s hungry but then I have to take him off and burp and he gets even more upset !

I’m using a shield and trying to wean (he chokes with and without the shield) and with the choking, burping, diaper change, attempting actual nipple, then shield .. feedings are not easy.

Is the choking from strong let down or oversupply of milk ?

Any suggestions how to combat this ?

I feed him sitting up to help with burping but have tried cradle .. still chokes.

I also try to lean back a bit .. helps a little
