I got my copper IUD placed about an hour ago and I am having severe pain and cramping.

I had looked it up beforehand and was aware that it could be pretty painful afterwards, or it could be like nothing. I had just hoped I would be lucky.

After it happened I was sitting on the toilet in the doctors office crying and my SO asked the doctor if this was especially bad. To which the doctor said yes.

I was told to take ibuprofen and Tylenol and use a rice pack.

Has anyone else had a really painful experience? What did you do to ease the pain and how long did it last?
