Young Volleyball Coach
Hello! I am 20 years old, and this will be my second season as a JV Volleyball coach. The school I am coaching for I graduated from. Since then I played college volleyball. I am very qualified and know what I am talking about. I also believe I am very organized and like to plan things out.
I am coaching at a rather urban school. The girls are wonderful, funny, and kind. The talent level at the school is low.. the girls were not taught volleyball in middle school.
I am not very good at confrontation, I had a hard time this year and last making cuts from tryouts. My last year group of girls listened well. This new group of girls are more rowdy and disrespectful. They roll their eyes, walk when shagging balls, and appear to think they deserve to be on varsity and that jv is beneath them. I am a high intensity coach, I demand hustle and effort. I need advice with things I could say to the girls to take me more serious.
In other words, in there anything I can say or do to earn the respect of these girls? I really care about getting them better and care about the sport a ton.
